Who would like to own a piece of Worcester history? If only walls could talk! In 1952 the Sons of Rest meeting house was built at Gheluvelt Park to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. Times have moved on and the old Sons of Rest building is being replaced by a lovely new meeting place, toilet and kiosk later this year.
It's sad to see the old place go and rather than seeing it end up in landfill WRE has its biggest job to date, selling the old place off. In partnership with Worcester City Council and the contractors Abbey and Lyndon, who have delicately dismantled the old building WRE will be selling the beautiful seasoned waney wood cladding, windows, sinks, floor boards, hard wood timber, metal railings, roof supports.......the whole lot. It is a bit of an experiment to see what materials can go on to be used in exciting building and creative projects and hopefully we can share the stories of what happens to some of the bits of the old Sons of Rest.

All sales must be made through WRE and not Abbey and Lyndon contractors as they are busy building the new place!
